Do we love Danny from National Product? Yes, we love Danny from National Product!!
"I have to say this:
Whether you like the dudes past group, or what he did in the future a few things cannot be taken away from the guy. I lived with him for 6 months when we had no money and were in preproduction for LUNA. We got in a van and drove to Orlando where James Wisner lives to do our record and Chris let us live with him, write a record, and basically have free reign over every aspect of his house. He has been insanely supportive of local bands and band who have made a name. A few who stayed and recorded, crashed at his place on tour or stopped in to show love were:
Everytime I Die, Mae, Saosin, Bowling For Soup, Atreyu, Yellowcard, Hot Rod Circuit and many more including lots of bands who would have never had the chance to be in such a place with such an incredibly successful yet HUMBLE dude.
He is by no means broke, i promise you that. He has made alot of very smart choices with his investments but thats really not a point anyway.
Whats more is that he has an amazing non profit called the Kirkpatrick Foundation which i had the honor of being apart of this year where he spends alot of his own money every year on major holidays, Halloween, Christmas etc to give under privileged kids who are abused or without families an opportunity to have a somewhat normal life which I think alot of us take for granted.
Every dude in his band are his best friends. He doesnt have a backing band. He also isnt trying to do anything more than make music he loves. There is nothing manufactured about it, I just think alot of people are going to see it for face value and I get that, because realistically, his pop act was the biggest pop act pretty much ever.
Anyhow, I know theres alot of hate, but I have nothing but love for this dude. I have never met a more humble honest and loved guy in the industry from not only industry people, but major sport athletes, other huge musicians (dave matthews, cisco the thong guy, the twisted sister dudes, and lots of hair metal bands) as well as being asked to support the John Kerry presidential election back in the day.
It says alot about the character of a person when people have nothing but love for who you are as a person, that is worth alot more than what anyone would say about anyone based on their musical preferences or jobs."
"i honestly wish you guys could meet the dude... you guys all LOVE the starting line... ask any of the those dudes what they think of Chris =)
If it werent for Chris, i would have never met those dudes or alot of the people who are now in my life. Its amazing what one good soul with alot of other good people in his or her life can do that will affect the direction of where your life goes."
"if i were to say anything, i would say some of it has a CAKE vibe, one song is like an EVERLAST type feel which actually gets cool, one track not on there is very JEW Futures (one of his all time fav bands btw) and then "who am i.." , I cant even put my finger on it, but it reminds me of something i would hear in a movie and the lyrics are fucking awesome especially coming from a guy who has had everything, jets, money, fame etc and just completely introspective of his heart, i dig that shit and its really humbling to hear lyrics that open and honest from a dude who was writing/cowriting music to sell to masses where he is now writing to release who he is rather than who he needs to portray to sell music"
