Pet Pictures!

These are my pets. Rats. I love them. They look like big mice, but are VERY social, unlike mice. And unlike hamsters and gerbils. Mushu, my baby, will sit in my lap for over an hour just letting me pet him. He even will get close to sleep in my lap. I'd like to see a hamster or gerbil do that!

This is Mushu (pronouced Moo-shoe, like the dragon from the movie Mulan). This one is mine. I love him so much. He is the sweetest little thing. He is a hairless rat. The thing I like about that, his skin is super soft and I don't have to worry about allergies (I have a slight allergy to pet dander).



This is Mushu and Pepsi. Pepsi is one of my daughter's rats. He's fairly nice, but for some reason can't seem to figure out that he's not suppose to curl his toes when you hold him... it makes him scratch when he isn't meaning to.



And this is Pepsi and Jack. These are both my daughter's rats. Jack was a feeder rat though, so he isn't friendly at all. I've finally gotten him to where I can reach my hand into the cage without him nipping at me. But I highly doubt he'll ever really let me hold him. Feeder rats aren't breed to be friendly. The breeders could care less about the behavior or health of feeder rats.

The guinea pigs and rabbit get along? That is so cool! They are really cute. I've thought about getting a guinea pig, but my hubby says no. He said no about the rats too, but I fought for them. haha my mom wouldn't ever let me have them when I lived with her.

And pretty horse!

And yeah, I love Jack's coat. That's the reason I picked him of the other feeders. He was the best looking.

Now I want to have a pet too. Don't know if there are any pics of my hamster somewhere..I'll search for some this weekend.

Well, the rabbit and guinea pigs get along great when they´re out of their cages... but because my bunny´s already getting a bid old, so she got her own cage. But sometimes when I just clean the ones... she goes right in that one of Blacky and Rocko!
But I wouldn´t let her stay for too long inside of that, cause she got a kind of allerical about the sawdust, too. =(

It will be this christmas already 7 years!!!!

Aww, so you've had them since they were tiny little things? So sweet! September will be a year for my rats. haha, but concidering they only live 2-4 years, that's not too bad.

well, Arwen was already 5/6 weeks old... and the other ones... mmh... wait.. yay, 5 weeks or so as well. gosh, i am not feeling like i have them already a whole year... and Arwen´s still my lil baby, too.

oh, yeah... that´s really not very... "long". But I supose it´s going to be 2-4 beautiful/ wonderful years for you with them!

Yes, knowing they don't live very long makes you charish the time you have with them.

Got two new ones last night!!! I'm in love. They are little sweethearts, just like my Mushu.

I need help naming the one that looks like Mushu though. any suggestions??

I'm a dork but I think something similar to Mushu would be cute, like Masha, Mesha...something like that. lol

I was actually thinking the same thing... just finding that just right name is what I'm having trouble with.

And I think she might be pregnant because although the two are sisters, the one that looks like Mushu is WAY skinnier. And Jazmin has a belly, that you can see from behind when she's standing on her back two feet. Usually when they stretch up like that, the belly is just in the front. But her's expands around the sides and to the back. And it's a little squishy, but still fairly firm at the same time... like a human pregnant belly. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Okay, so it sounds nothing like Mushu, but I think I've settled on "Penny".

how old´re these two anyway? Are they still babies??

Yeah, they are definately babies... about half the size of my other rats. I'd say they are probably just shy of two months old.

I'd almost bet Jazmin is pregnant. She's getting bigger. She doesn't climb anymore. Her nipples are starting to stand out. And I'd swear I felt movement in her stomach the last couple times I put my hands around her. I'm guessing that we'll have babies within a week.

And as of this morning she is spotting. I've seen what has looked like two contractions. So hopefully we'll have some healthy babies born within a few hours!

Really hope all did well at the birth. Are they now already born??

She had them yesterday morning. She gave birth to a total of 9 babies, but one was still born. And since about an hour after she finished giving birth, she has accidentally sufficated three. So we have five babies left. Here's pictures.

Oh my...look at all the naked babies! hehe Cute!

I'm wondering if they will end up hairless. We should find out in a week or two.
